- Line of retreat should block the attackers' route to goal
- Keep ball and attackers in view - body stance open
- Should maintain space
- When the retreat is at end the shot should be ineffective GK communication

- 01 can go for goal or combine with 02
- Xl to delay and if possible win the ball
- 01 and 02 cannot run offside
- Xl to channel player with ball into shot easily dealt with by GK

- Defenders (X2) should adopt the correct lines of recovery
- Shortest route back and judge lines of recovery
- Judge distance to recover
- Once recovered do not "svatch off'
- X2 to combine vath Xl to Win the ball back
- Players on goal side of ball GK and Xl communicate
ORGANISATION, DIRECTION AND PROGRESSION
- S1 serves 01 or 02
- Xl delays 01 and 02 whilst X2 makes recovery run
- Must recover either to mark player without ball and cover Xl or attempt to
win the ball off player with ball whilst Xl gives cover
- Advisable to have spare defenders as recovery runs will be very demanding
on X2
