Organisation
This is a good warm up for a Goalkeepers school.
It should only be used after a proper warm up.
Exercises
One ball per keeper
-
Quick catch between the legs. The
ball is suspended between legs with one hand in front of the legs, the
other behind. The keeper quickly switches placement of the hands and catches
the ball before it bounces. Try for 20-30 catches in a row.
- Bounce between the legs. Stand with legs apart, bounce
the ball through front of legs, swivel around and catch the ball behind the
body. The feet stay planted. Throw the ball back through the legs, catch it
in front of the body.
- Sit, throw, jump, catch. Sit down, throw the ball
high, get up and catch it.
- Diving and falling with ball in hand. Keeper practices
diving and falling with the ball in his/her hands. Go from sitting, kneeling,
squatting and standing positions. Practice pinning the ball on the ground.
One hand behind the ball and the other near the top of the ball.
- Ball jumps, side to side. With feet together, the
keeper jumps from one side of the ball to the other. 20 repetitions.
- Ball jumps, back to front. With feet together, the
keeper jumps from the front of the ball to the back and back again. 20 repetitions.
- Bounce and catch. The keeper throws the ball at the
ground while jogging and catches with "W" hand shape before the
ball rises above hip level
- Toss and jump. The keeper throws the ball up in the
air while jogging, jumps to catch it with arms extended and one knee up in
front of the body.
- Throw, somersault and catch. The keeper throws the
ball up high and forward, does a somersault and tries to catch the ball before
it bounces.
- Throw, spin through 360 degrees and catch. While moving
around.
- Roll and scoop. The keeper rolls the ball forward
a few yards, runs onto it and scoops it up.
- Roll, scoop and dive. Scoop while diving or falling
