Turning 2 v 2

Organisation
  • Grid is 50 yards x 20 yards.
  • Two areas of 20 yards x 20 yards and a middle section of 10 yards x 20 yards.
  • 4 v 4 + two Keepers.
  • No players are allowed in the central area therefore Attackers will always have space to receive the ball to feet.

The Game
  • Play starts with a weak shot to either Keeper.
  • He plays it to a Defender (Attackers don't close them down) who passes over no mans land to an Attackers feet.
  • The Attacker tries to turn and score.
  • The Keeper at that end then plays it to a Defender etc.
  • Keep the game flowing.
Key Points
  1. Create Space, push the Defender right back.
  2. Observation, awareness of Defenders and Attacker.
  3. Communication, let him know where you are.
  4. Support Angle and Distance.
  5. Runs of Players, overlaps.
  6. Shield or protect the ball if necessary.
  7. 1st Touch.
  8. Keep the ball moving.
  9. Technique of turn, be assertive
  10. Acceleration
  11. End product
  12. Rebounds
