Attacking Techniques

ATTACKING 1 V 1
ATTITUDES

KEY FACTORS

  • First touch - is it positive
  • Cheek list of the players decisions
    • Can the ball be played forward
    • Can the player run with the ball
    • Can the player run and dribble
    • Can the player run at speed
  • Does the player attack at speed
  • Does the player make positive decisions

ORGANISATION, DIRECTION AN[) PROGRESSION

  • Sl serves the ball to XI
  • 01 must say in their own half
  • XI makes decisions
  • XI can also run around Sl and take the ball at pace
  • Progress that 01 can defend in the whole area

REVISION & REINFORCEMENT OF PASSING AND BALL CONTROL

KEY FACTORS

  • Decision making of players
  • Which controlling surface
  • Which passing surface
  • First touch in front with front foot (inside or outside)
  • First touch on back foot (taking the ball away inside or outside)
  • One touch play
  • Setting up moves (understanding)

ORGANISATION, DIRECTION AND PROGRESSION

  • Xl plays the ball to X2 or X3 (A's and O's aswell) coach must encourage the key factors list to be brought out by the players

PROGRESSION

  • Ball to be played in the air
  • Key factors:
    • Which surface does the player choose
    • Which controlling method

CREATING SPACE TO RECEIVE THE BALL

KEY FACTORS

  • Movement away from the ball
  • Visual contact
  • Check off at pace to receive the ball
  • If the defender (01) is tight - play the ball back to Sl - spin in and move behind 01
  • SI can play the ball behind
  • If the defender is still tight Xl to check again and receive the ball
  • If the defender is not tight then Xl must glance over shoulder and turn

ORGANISATION, DIRECTION AND PROGRESSION

  • Sl to touch the ball once in front and then lift head to play to Xl
  • Xl when receiving the ball from Sl must be decisive
  • Progress to 2 V 2

LETTING THE BALL RUN

KEY FACTORS

  • Assessing the situation
  • Decision to control the ball or let it run
  • Fake to control with body action
  • Quick change of direction by turning and following the ball

ORGANISATION, DIRECTION AND PROGRESSION

  • SI to serve the ball diagonally left or right
  • Progress to S2 and S3 serving across 01 and XI

TURNING AND DRIBBLING SKILLS

KEY FACTORS

  • Player to make space to turn or dribble
  • Decision - which turn or dribble move
  • Attitude of player - is it positive
  • First touch
  • Execute movement or movements

ORGANISATION, DIRECTION AND PROGRESSION

  • SI can pass to S2 or S3 to start play
  • Play can be started with Sl, S2 or S3
  • Player Xl is to create space to turn or dribble
  • Player Xl cannot play the ball back to SI, S2 or S3
  • Progression would be to build the functional practice 2 v 2
