1. Warm Up
2. Goalkeepers run from the goal to the
corner flag doing these exercises to get hands and feet moving.
- Two touches passing to feet, take one touch then pass it back.
- Pick the ball up, roll the ball for partner to scoop up
- Throw the ball into partners chest for cup
- Throw the ball to face for "W" hands
- Throw the ball high for catches
3. Goalkeepers stand 5 yards apart and volley the ball
to each other.
4. Crunches. Two Keepers sitting down opposite each other, serve
the ball over their partners head, so the keeper goes back on his back and
sits up to serve.
5. Rock 'n' Save. On belly, 1 yard apart, one server one pusher. Throw
the ball so the Keeper has to push up and parry the ball back.
6. Fast Feet. Use four goals as shown and four servers.

Organisation
- A four goal square of normal full size goal dimensions is set
up on a good diving area.
- Cones are positioned about 15-20 yards away facing
the centre of the goals.
- One player stands at each cone, with at least two
balls, while three retreivers stand around the area to get the balls back quickly
to those at the cones.
- The drill starts with each player firing a shot at
goal in strict rotation; the goalkeeper moves quickly from goal to goal to
re-position himself for each shot.
- They should shoot so that the Keeper is
kept working hard to save shots.
- A reasonable time period for the goalkeeper
is about 30-60 seconds, which the coach should monitor since the work is vert
strenuous.
Variations
-
Create a competition among the Keepers to see who can lose
the least number of goals in a given time period
-
Vary the types of shot
-
The coach can increase the tempo of the practise whereby
each player shoots just as the goalkeeper recovers from the last shot, thus
putting him under greater pressure
-
A cone can be placed in the centre of the triangle. After
each shot the Keeper must recover and go around the cone before making the
next save. This is ideal for footwork and the keeper will approach the next
shot at a more realistic angle.
Remember
7. Servers only 5 yards away now. Throw the ball, vary the distribution and give the Keeper a
chance. Change Keepers and direction.
8. Now transfer into goal. The cones should be in line with the coach
and the posts.

The Coach shouts go and the Keeper advances to the cone goal
where he sets and saves. The Keeper should work on his angles and feet work.
Remember
