Goalkeeping: Strength Exercises

The Key elements are Upper Body and Legs

Practises

1. Press Ups. There are several different Press Ups you can do:

  • Ordinary
  • On the Knuckles
  • On the Fingers
  • With a both hands on a ball each
  • With both hands on one ball
  • Press up and then clap.
  • Someone holding your legs down.
  • Some one on top of you.

2. Wrestling. With 1 server, 1 Coach and 1 Keeper. The Coach wrestles (or holds) the Keeper on the line. The Keeper must break free and then make a save from the server.

3. Tug of ball. With two Keepers. The first holds the ball on the top and bottom while the second holds the ball on the sides. Pull until winner. Swap hand positions.  

4.Sit Ups.
