HOW TO PASS FOOTBALL COACHING COURSES
Distribution
You must give the Goalkeeper the chance to kick at
an early age! Every kid must be given the chance to fulfill their
potential. So don't let the big centre half
take it! If the Goalkeeper can't kick
it a long way, then get the defenders to defend deeper, if necessary they can
defend from inside their own box for goalkicks. You cannot deny the Goalkeeper
the opportunity to take kicks but you can organise the team around his kicking
problems.
Practises
-
Players start 20 yds apart, this varies on ability.
- They pass the ball to each
other taking turns to use all the different throws and kicks.
- 1 Goal for a
catch by your opponent over his head.
- When accuracy is gained then you can
increase length.
Types of Distribution
-
The Goal kick. Look for the high spot on the ground. Put your foot directly
behind the ball and then step back. Slightly curve your run. The ball should
be at 2 o'clock for right footer or 10 o'clock for left footer. Looking for
height and accuracy, strike the ball through the bottom to middle with your
laces.
-
The Drop kick. The ball should be dropped from the hands and not thrown up. The
less distance the ball has to travel the easier it is to volley the ball. Keep
your head still.
-
The Half Volley. Drop it, don't spin it. This is only recommended on good surfaces.
-
The Underarm throw. The ball is held in the palm of the hand and cupped against
the wrist. Step forward with the opposite leg to the ball and bend at the
knee. Release the ball in a smooth controlled manner with pace and accuracy.
-
The Javelin throw. Step with the opposite foot to the ball, slightly bend your
knee. Take the ball back in arc until it is by the side. The ball is swept
back over shoulder and released on the follow through. Use a bit of slice
to keep the ball down.
