Dealing with Crosses

Warm Up 1

Various footwork exercises to improve balance with both feet, spring, quick feet and take off. Make sure Keepers are warmed up and stretched

Cones are placed one pace apart with a ball on them. When you get to the end trot back.

Exercises.

  1. Skip sideways through the balls. Forwards then backwards.
  2. Hop over balls on one foot. Right then left foot.
  3. Hop over with both feet.
  4. Move feet sideways. Hop in line with the ball, hop sideways over it, hop parallel to next ball and repeat.
  5. 2 Forwards then 1 back.Hop over then back,then hop hop over and one back.
Warm Up 2

In Pairs. One throws the ball up the other catches. Keepers run 30 yards.

  1. The player with the ball walks backwards and throws the ball up for the Keeper to run forward and catch. Switch Keepers after each run.
  2. Throw the ball behind the Keeper so he has to stretch.
  3. Throw the ball to his side.
  4. Vary throws.
  5. Any of the above.
  6. Throw the ball and jump with the Keeper obstructing him.
  7. Get in groups of 5. Four Keepers are numbered 1-4 and one throws the ball up and shouts a number. That Keeper must catch the ball while the other 3 obsruct him.

Warm Ups with and without the Ball
