Player 1 takes the throw in to feet or for the forwards to run onto. He has three options:-A. Throw down the line for player 2. B. Throw to the edge of the area for player 3. C. Throw over the players for player 4's run.
- Players 2 and 3 make opposite runs. They both go in different directions and then check back to lose their marker.
- Players 2 and 3 do not have to work hard to cross the ball, they can just help the ball on.
- Look for ball over players 2 and 3. Timing of run is important.

Key Points
- Delivery.
Ask the thrower to throw the ball at you. You want
to see how far he can throw it. Hold your hands over your head, can you
throw it here. Move back until you can see how far he can throw it. Is
the projectory right ? We want a flat projectory with pace. Do we want
it lobbed in ?
- Position of players.
Flicker on in near post area. Look for opposite movement. If giant aim
for him. Ball comes then player. How near the goal he stands is determined
on how far the ball can be thrown.
- Movements of players. Timing and angle of runs.
Do we want someone on the keeper to spin off to
the back post. Have we got players attacking the near post, back post
or middle areas. Can
someone come across the flight of the ball. We want players to come in
hard and fast
- Players outside the box.
Who is locking off the box.
- Balance and cover.
Position of defenders, where do you want them marking.
Keepers starting position, edge of box.Can
